The qualities of a good work ethic, consistency and modesty are all combined by Frédéric Côte (originally from Roanne) in his authentic restaurant, which opens out onto its surroundings on the banks of the river Saône and sits opposite the ‘Château de Saint-Bernard’.The local countryside is what inspires his cuisine and is also the source of his top-quality ingredients, which he serves unadulterated and in large qualities throughout the year. In this tastefully renovated old building, which can be reached by boat, you too can savour the contentment that this former chef of ‘Le Caro de Lyon’ (and who also worked in the kitchens of Francis Chauveau, Georges Blanc and Daniel Boulud) came to seek out. Be tempted by the delightful frog legs (in persillade or a chanterelle cream sauce), or enjoy the green olive soup with a selection of rolls and tomatoes with basil out on the terrace in the summer, or in winter warm yourself by the huge fireplace with the master restaurateur’s signature dish – lobster andouillette and Chinese cabbage with a lime and ginger soy emulsion. Another dish which just has to be tasted is the ‘lièvre à la royale’(hare) and home-made ‘Saint Honoré’ dessert.
