This establishment is legendary. The former ‘Hostellerie de la Varenne’ has been renamed in honour of Antoine, the father, who enjoyed several culinary adventures in Lyon, Cannes and Marrakesh. It is now where Frédéric, his son, and team, who are rightly proud of this heritage, work on their own gourmet inspirations. A beautiful seasonal cuisine cooked by a chef who learnt the ropes with Grisard and Bocuse and who has a great respect for both the ingredients and what his region has to ofer can be enjoyed in the trendy large dining areas or the idyllic surroundings of the terrace. The menu, which showcases the restaurant’s great signature dish of sweetbreads, reflects the diverse, adventurous and beautifully skilled cooking style, illustrated by the astonishing pan-fried slice of foie gras presented burger-style in a bread roll, a bed of squash, miso jus and dried fruit crumble. The comprehensive wine list makes this a location in the heart of the ‘Monts du Lyonnais’ which is full of pleasant surprises.
