Rustic, yet chic – ‘Tante Yvonne’ knows how to combine the two whilst retaining the best of each in this pretty family-run gourmet establishment. An 18th century residence painted with iridescent gold highlights, two air-conditioned rooms and comfortable chairs is the perfect place to enjoy the cuisine of Bernard Chemarin, who trained with the Lyon greats, including Bocuse and Orsi. You can tuck into authentic fare here, which respects culinary traditions which the local regulars swear by. Chicken in a cream and morel sauce and frog legs meunière are part of the furniture here, although the chef likes to add a few personal touches to the menu. Any top tips? Do not forget to taste the ‘craquelin’ (a crunchy cream puf and a great house speciality), fangipane ‘feuille de brique’ (flled thin sheet pastry) or the chocolate chips served warm on an apricot coulis.
