If you mention the idea of an open-air café, thoughts immediately turn to the banks of the Saône. However, the spirit of an open air café is alive and well just a few minutes south of Lyon city centre on the A7. This tranquil location in the lush green surroundings of the ‘île de la Table-Ronde’ offers a large terrace and a cosy interior to enjoy in both winter and summer alike. Getting away from it all, pétanque, warm hospitality and fine food create an atmosphere in which chef, Benoît Toussaint thrives. His fresh, sautéed Dombes fresh frog legs and fillet of beef with morel sauce illustrate the expertise of a chef who trained in the kitchen’s of Le Crillon and Le Grand Véfour in Paris and the Connaught Hotel in London. Such inspiration certainly enhances the superb ingredients to be found in our region in every season!
