The plain of Ain is home to a residence whose charm and hospitality makes it worth the trip in so many different ways. To start with, there is the superb restaurant where a contemporary and inventive seasonal cuisine is served. Dominique Grisoni learnt his trade whilst on a tour of France and further afield. It is a culinary journey which he revisits on the very walls of the establishment itself. The chef likes to swap the ovens for his brushes and guests can enjoy the resulting watercolour paintings. His culinary inspiration combines select local ingredients with unexpected touches, some of which bring to mind Provence. The gourmet journey begins with a plain foie gras, Corsican arbutus berry coulis and a myrtle compote, followed by baked lobster on a cabbage and cumin compote. The meal is beautifully rounded off with a famous hot soufflé with Grand Marnier – what an experience!
