The careers of husband and wife team, Fabrice and Carine Roche is the story of a shared passion for fine food and pleasure. They learnt about working with great ingredients, the satisfaction of a job well done and the importance of thoughtful details in some of the top places, such as Orsi, Henriroux and Lassausaie. These are lessons which they were able to implement over their ten years at ‘Juliénas’ in Villefranche sur Saône, where they were awarded their first Michelin star. This couple, who are full of integrity, then moved to the Croix-Rousse where they have chosen to concentrate on the basics. This is seen in the warm and friendly atmosphere full of spontaneous happiness, the undiluted pleasure in a fresh, unfussy gourmet cuisine based on instinctive cooking and great seasonal produce and the regularly updated menu. Lovers of fine food climbing the hill in Croix-Rousse will know the Rue Pailleron by heart, as it is a real treasure trove of good places to eat. ‘Opaline’ is without doubt its best gem!
